This match was thrilling before it started: depending on its result, Russia, Denmark and Latvia all could get third placed in the group and would play versus Norway, who smashed Germany 18-3 in a parallel match, the Place 5 match.
The first two periods were tactically dominated, but though there were times in which Denmark put some pressure on the Baltic team, Latvia controlled the match quite well. And of course, Denmark was sometimes quite unlucky. Nevertheless, Latvia did not get nervous in the final period and brought their lead home winning the match and now facing Norway.
The referees of this match were the Baumgartner brothers who will finish their career after the World Championships. It's a great thing to see that some people remembered this!
